Despite only having 11 fit (uninjured!) players at the start of the game, the Vets managed an impressive 2-0 victory on Molesey Lighthouse Vets on Saturday 17th. The game was reschedualed to an earlier kick-off due to the funerla of HRH Prince Philip meaning that several regulars were unable to attend. On the injury list was first choice keeper Rob so backup Phil had the (almost) impossible task of deputising.
The lads made a bright start and went 2-0 up before the injuries started to hit. Roberto suffered a mysterious leg injury but, after a short rest, tried to play through the pain.Captain Gaz received an elbow to the nose resulting in an explosion of gore and some anglo-saxon comments. Undettered, Capt invincible was hosed down and returned to action.
The lads worked hard to protect their lead and through a combination of dogged determination and hard graft they held on for another excellent victory. Anyone know how to remove blood stains from a football shirt??
